Our Third Day

We got up and had breakfast with Aunt Fun, we ate Raisin Bran and bananas.  We went to camp and after dropping of Sabra (she goes first) I got to see Canadian Geese in Lake Champlain.  We swam in the lake last night.

Canadian Geese, we saw so many of them!

Chloe, this is Hazel talking.  The maple sugar house is where they make maple syrup and it is a wooden house in the woods.  I keep my stuff there when I am not in my camp and we are in the woods.  Do you know what a sit spot is?  We have one to look at nature.  I saw all kinds of trees.  Today we made raspberry jam and mixed it with honey.  It was good.  We cooked beets on a fire.  I did not like the taste.

From Sabra: we went in to groups today and it was hot outside.  I jumped in the lake.  We spent time in the garden and learned about vegetables.  I got to ride in a wagon.  We collected things on the beach and I found a salamander.  I named it Caramel.  He will always stay at Shelburne Farms.  It was a really fun day.  I like camp a lot.  The kids are really nice.

Sarah wants to go to camp, too.  We told her she had to be six or ten to go to camp so we named her Donut and made her six years old.  It was all pretend.  She did not really get to go to camp.  Her name really is Aunt Fun.  But we laughed about calling her Aunt Donut.  She said "I do nut know how you came up with that name!"

After camp we met Karen, Allen, and Katie and saw the movie The Secret Life of Pets.  We think Aunt Nancy would like it.  It is all about what pets do when their owners are away from home.  It is a cartoon.

Sarah made shrimp casserole for dinner.  It wasn't very good, even she said it wasn't very good so it is okay for us to write that.  We had oreos for snacks.  Aunt Fun says we eat them the same way she did when she was little.

We read books with the name Nancy in them tonight.  We are going to bed early.  We will write more tomorrow.

Love Sabra and HAZEL

Eating Oreos!

Fancy Nancy and Nancy Drew!

  1. Dear Hazel and Sabra, So good to hear that every day is a good day with friends, activities, food and some times teasing Aunt Fun. I bet you good to bed with a smile on your face. Today, King and I took a 10 mile bike hike on the Erie Canal and then we had a quick supper at Yellow Mills. We are tired too. Good night!

    1. Molly, the girls asked me to ask you to see if Isaac, Oscar, and Evelyn like Chloe's suggestion of calling Aunt Fun Aunt Donut?! See her post below. They think it is a funny name! We are going to camp very soon! We love ALL OF OUR FAMILY!

  3. Thanks for telling me what a maple sugar house and a sit spot are (I don't have one, but maybe I should)! Also, I think we should take a vote to see if we can rename Aunt Fun as Aunt Donut :)

  4. Hi Chloe (this is from Sarah) -- I shared your comments with the girls and they like the idea of calling me Aunt Donut! Two thumbs up, but they also like Aunt Fun. Hazel says one day she can be Aunt Fun and another Aunt Donut! We are leaving for camp in a few minutes and after camp we are going to a friend's house for a swim in their pool and then we go to a riding lesson at Aunt Donut's friend's barn!

  5. I love the idea of having a sister known as "Aunt Donut!" Of course, everyone knows how much I adore and almost inhale donuts! Its wonderful to hear Sabra and Hazel are enjoying their camping experience with such enthusiasm and immersion. Speaking of immersion, I sure could go for a swim in Lake Champlain right now. It is HOT here in Victor! Another reason to be envious of our granddaughters and Sister Sarah. We love you all so and are looking forward to seeing you later this summer.

  6. Good evening everyone! We had a very full day and will not be doing a blog entry. The girls and I are tired from their day at camp and tonight they went horseback riding. They had a bath after dinner and are now asleep! We love you all! Aunt Donut (Aunt Fun), Sabra, and Hazel
